Description

Lasagne al forno - serve with chips and/or salad

Ingredients

500Gramminced beef (preferably lean)
1 onion (large chopped)
1Clovegarlic (crushed)
1Cantinned tomatoes
2Tablespoon (Metric)tomato puree
2Teaspoon (Metric)oregano
1Pinchsalt
1Pinchpepper
1⁄2Cupred wine (half a glass)
1 beef stock cube
6Slicelasagne (or thereabouts)
25Grambutter (for the cheese sauce)
50Gramplain flour
600Millilitremilk (warm)
250Gramcheese (grated cheddar)
1Dropparmesan (sprinkled on top)
1Droppaprika (sprinkled on top)

Instructions

Cook the onion and garlic until soft, then add the minced beef and brown.

Add the tomatoes, tomato puree, red wine, stock cube, and herbs and cook for 10 minutes or so.

To make the cheese sauce melt the butter gently then add the flour and stir, cooking the roux for 2 to 3 minutes. Then gradually add in the milk, stirring constantly. Add the cheese and stir in until it is melted.

Assemble the lasagne in its dish, a layer of mince mixture, a layer of lasagne sheets, a second layer of mince and a second layer of lasagne sheets, then pour on the cheese sauce.

Sprinkle the top with grated parmesan cheese and paprika and bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 170 degrees C.
