Wellesbourne 5 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
The opposition today, Wellesbourne, stood between the Colts and a place in the final of the Supplementary Cup. Wellesbourne were helped in the first half, however, by a gale force wind in their favour and a Colts defence that didn't seem interested in chasing the opposition too much. Hence they helped themselves to four fairly quick goals. Each clinically taken leaving Kyle very little chance. A fifth came later in the first half before the Colts finally got their heads and legs in gear.
No hairdrier needed from the coach at the half-time talk (the weather was doing that already!), but they were much more efficient and organised in the second half. A combination of the wind and woken minds made the second half a much more level match. The Colts managed several sharp attacks including a long-distance bullet from Oli which bounced agonisingly off the crossbar. Kyle made some excellent saves from the much reduced Wellesbourne attack and we survived the rest of the match without conceding.
Another match of two halves, then, from the Colts. Maybe we should play a 30 minute game before starting our official matches instead of the usual training exercises! Hey-ho, now we can concentrate on the league.
