Warwick Colts 10 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Well this was a strange day. Colts had 11 players available for the match so no confusion with changing roles and no frustration at sitting out. Unfortunately this didn't help us as we were missing key defence elements that proved critical to the result. While we were playing great football up front and an attacking combination of Daniel, Ky and Max was making regular inroads and creating chances to score and some excellent positions on the pitch, it was in defence that all the players were struggling. During a windy and rainy first half we had the weather in our favour but despite this, after a couple of unstoppable Warwick goals, we seemed to lose interest in moving with their attacks and Warwick were able to score 5 goals in that first half.
The second half started in better weather, but the play continued in the same vein. An unfortunate incident involving the Warwick number 9 striker saw him injured when landing awkwardly on Sean's boot. He apparently suffered damage to his vertebra and was taken to hospital, we wish him a speedy recovery. This didn't prevent Warwick from continuing their onslaught and with their confidence high and our players struggling they scored another 5 goals making this our worst result of the season (so far).
A day best forgotten.
