Latest Colts match report
A similar story tonight of a battling performance and excellent effort rewarded by another loss. Tonight's evening game was our first without star keeper Kyle, so Oli stepped into his gloves and between the sticks. He did a fine job for the Colts too, making some good saves, and beaten only by genuinely well taken shots.
Overall the team played well together with good passing and defending on the whole. There were the usual moments of static ball-watching but we were beaten by good goals.
Max came closest to scoring, his effort just skimming the far post, but there were other exciting moments too. Plenty to keep the fans encouraging the boys forward. However, there were no goals for us today

Warwick Colts 10 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Well this was a strange day. Colts had 11 players available for the match so no confusion with changing roles and no frustration at sitting out. Unfortunately this didn't help us as we were missing key defence elements that proved critical to the result. While we were playing great football up front and an attacking combination of Daniel, Ky and Max was making regular inroads and creating chances to score and some excellent positions on the pitch, it was in defence that all the players were struggling.
Ballsall and Berkswell Hornets 7 - 1 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Eek! Another tale of two halves, this time Colts performances were surprisingly transposed. An excellent first half was followed by a despondent second half performance conceding five goals in the second half-hour period.
Hillmorton Juniors 3 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Today was a missed opportunity to move off the bottom of the table, being on the same points as Hillmorton at the start of the day. The Colts started the match brightly enough up front, but failed on three separate occasions to get to the ball before their opponents when it mattered. Backing away from high kicked balls where the Hillmorton players - some of whom were apparently 15 year old trainee lumberjacks - would head the ball straight back into attack, was the main difference between the teams in the first half.
Kenilworth Wardens Colts 4 - 2 Banbury Irish
A great and deserved victory for the Colts this week over the same team we lost 2-nil to last week! The Colts twice came from behind in this match. It started with strong attacking from the Banbury Irish team which was met with good defensive work from our midfield and back three, Kyle only required to make a few easy stops. Unfortunately a Banbury attacker got through on one solitary occasion and was able to slot the ball home to put them in front. However the Colts stuck to their game and hit back through Guy's goal from a crowded penalty area.
Kenilworth Wardens Colts 0 - 2 Banbury Irish
An unfortunate result for the Colts this week in a match they could have drawn. Although they created few chances they defended resolutely for the most part. Both Banbury's goals came either side of half time created from static defence "moments" that allowed two of their attackers to be given space iwithin the six yard box. On both occasions Kyle the Keeper managed pull off fine saves from the initial efforts, but unfortunately because of the lack of defensive support, their following in players were able to score easily.
Bilton Ajax 4 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Another windy Sunday faced the Colts today with added drizzle to sting the eyes and a bitter chill to the stiff breeze. This week we started the match with the wind in our favour. We were playing a Bilton Ajax side who had improved over the course of the season since our last meeting - our first match of the season in which we pulled ourselves back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3. With the wind we managed to play some good football and competed well in midfield and defence although we produced few real chances.
Wellesbourne 5 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
The opposition today, Wellesbourne, stood between the Colts and a place in the final of the Supplementary Cup. Wellesbourne were helped in the first half, however, by a gale force wind in their favour and a Colts defence that didn't seem interested in chasing the opposition too much. Hence they helped themselves to four fairly quick goals. Each clinically taken leaving Kyle very little chance. A fifth came later in the first half before the Colts finally got their heads and legs in gear.
Ballsall and Berkswell Hornets 5 - 0 Kenilworth Wardens Colts
Well, we saw the Colts of a fortnight ago this week unfortunately, rather than the team of last week. To be fair they were up against a very good team in Berkswell & Ballsall Hornets who passed the ball well and seemed able to weave around our midfield and defenders with ease.
Kenilworth Wardens Colts 1 - 0 Hillmorton Juniors
Woop Woop - A third league win of the season for the Colts came today after a battling display worthy of the result.
Kenilworth Wardens Colts 0 - 9 Leamington Juniors
Errrrrrrmm, well....., Honestly, the score says it all.
A reasonably even start to today's match in challenging weather conditions was marred by the opposition scoring a scrappy goal amid a goalmouth scramble that was not dealt with. A second Leamington goal was added before the half-time whistle.
